This new model, part of the Bridges collection, has a dual character: it’s both cutting-edge and influenced by an award-winning pocket watch developed by Constant Girard in 1867.
This pocket watch, recognized for its precision, was unparalleled for 17 years, and when encased in gold, was awarded a gold medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition. In this watch, Constant Girard transformed three bridges from simple functional parts to artful design elements, an ethos echoed in the Neo Constant Escapement.
The Neo Constant Escapement is an advanced version of its predecessor, integrating numerous new tech advancements. Impressively, 30% of the patents in this latest model, totalling 13, are brand new. The updated movement has a reduced part count compared to the 2013 version (266 versus 280), showcasing the brand’s focus on efficiency over complexity.
One challenge for many timepieces is managing the force from the fully wound spring barrel. Too much force can affect accuracy and damage the movement. Conversely, as the barrel’s energy wanes, the decrease in force can also impact precision.
The Constant Escapement solves these issues, supplying consistent force, resulting in impressive accuracy. This watch has been certified by COSC, validating its precision, reminiscent of the brand’s accolades from the 1860s with the Neuchâtel Observatory Centenary Prize.
