In recent months, there has been an increasing number of audio brands launching smart speakers, and Google has finally caught up with a better-sounding speaker so that homeowners would not need to sacrifice audio quality for Google Assistant features.
Standing tall at 175mm and weighing 1.2kg, the Nest Audio looks and feels like a premium home speaker, and by applying the consistent fabric material from previous models so there are sharp edges, Google has achieved a very blended modern style. For existing Google Home or Nest owners, setting up is a breeze, just like any other Google smart speaker. It also works just like any existing Google speaker. The only difference is the speaker quality.
With a 75mm woofer and 19mm tweeter, the bass boom is more apparent and the treble is well-defined. The audio sounds less cluttered and less compressed at loud volume compared to all previous Google smart speakers. The Google Nest Audio delivers its best balance when playing at moderately loud levels, which will get you a good balance of the low, midrange, and upper presence. Too soft, and the bass would sound heavier than the treble. Too loud, and the bass starts to distort.
