FiiO Launches the Q5s Bluetooth DSD-capable Portable Amplifier

FiiO announced the launch and availability of the Q5s, its Bluetooth 5.0 DSD (Direct Stream Digital) capable portable amplifier, packing next generation dual AKM AK4493 DAC chips, comprehensive Bluetooth format support, and a punchy audiophile-grade power supply to supply the biggest inputs audiophiles demand.

FiiO Q5s

Dual DAC, XMOS Decoder with Bluetooth 5.0

The new Q5s packs a dual DAC design, with the left and right channels each equipped with a next-generation AKM AK4493 DAC chip, which immediately translates to even lower distortion, higher signal-to-noise ratio, and superbly refined mids and highs. The dual AK4493 DACs work together with six carefully-implemented op amps to form a truly balanced audio design.

The Q5s is also equipped with the XMOS XUF208 USB decoding chip paired with a precise clock matching management system, allowing for support up to 768kHz/32 bit PCM and hardware-decoded native DSD12. The Q5s has unparalleled decoding capabilities over USB, SPDIF, and Bluetooth – USB supports up to 768kHz/32bit and native hardware-decoded DSD512; SPDIF supports up to 192kHz/32 bit; and Bluetooth supports up to 96kHz/32 bit (under LDAC).

The Q5s supports even more Bluetooth formats than its predecessors, including the AAC, SBC, aptX, aptX Low Latency, aptX HD, LDAC, and HWA Bluetooth codecs.

Upgrades With the AM3E

The Q5s continues to use the interchangeable amp module design of its predecessor, and is fully compatible with all FiiO amp modules released thus far. The new standard amp balanced amp module AM3E is versatile, with 3.5mm single-ended as well as both 2.5mm and 4.4mm balanced outputs.

Audiophile-grade Power Supply

A well-designed power supply goes a long way towards achieving great sound. Alongside the numerous low-noise LDO regulators, the analog, digital, low-pass, and amplification sections of the Q5s are independently powered and isolated from each other – all for a clean and pure musical experience.

FiiO Q5s

Balanced Left and Right Channels with ADC Volume Adjustment

You no longer have to be annoyed by tiny volume imbalances between the left and right channels with ADC volume adjustment on the Q5s. The ADC curve reconstruction process effectively eliminates any channel volume imbalances that occur when adjusting the volume through a traditional analog potentiometer, allowing for much greater precision in adjusting the volume in tiny steps.

FiiO Music App Controls

With the FiiO Music app, you can adjust the Q5s’ channel balance, select the low-pass filter, control the RGB lights, and customise the power-saving shutdown timer once it is connected via Bluetooth.

What you get with the Q5s with all these audio technologies in this tiny, sandblasted all-aluminium alloy CNC chassis with rounded corners, with high-quality polyurethane leather back, is simply audio performance that rivals being in a theatre or concert hall.
