How the Canon iNSPIC [S] Completed my Community Service Trip

Going for a community service trip does not mean that there is no fun! I went to Indonesia last week with a team of 14 school mates to help a village in Tangerang, Lengkong Kulon, with waste management. It was a special opportunity that not everyone gets. I brought the Canon iNSPIC [S] to capture pictures with the village kids (who seemed really fascinated by the concept of instant printing) and my newfound friends. I also had the privilege to get my hands on the instant camera in one of the trendiest colours – Rose Gold.

Sharing is Caring

My favourite feature of the camera is the reprint function that lets me duplicate a print so that each of my friends in the picture can have a copy, printed on the smudge-proof and tear-resistant Zink paper. In the past, we had to keep taking more and more pictures so that everyone can have a copy. That wasn’t ideal because good things are meant for sharing, so more pictures means more fun!

I’m glad that I could reprint the photos of the girls and myself departing from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to mark the end of our trip.

Ease of Use for Peace of Mind

There was so much to think about during the trip, such as the schedule for the next day, checking on the progress of each department, communicating with the village heads, and planning the environment lessons for the children. I cannot imagine worrying about anything else about anything other than the project.

Thankfully, when it came to taking pictures, the process was effortless. The iNSPIC [S] is intuitive and it did not take reading entire user manual to get started. The camera only has a few buttons, including the Aspect Ratio button, allowing me to switch between 2×2 or 2×3 to choose between borderless or square prints. I am personally a fan of the borderless prints!

When I touched down back home, I was pleasantly surprised by my dad and best friends who came to the airport to pick me up. Of course, selfies are mandatory on these occasions! The camera’s built-in 2-inch field mirror helped me frame the wefie such that everyone is in frame and no one is blocked. It only took one try to get this shot. It is a very simple tool but it makes all the difference, especially when I do not want to waste any of the Zink paper. The field mirror is not the only tool to make sure that selfies are on point. Remember those clip-on ring lights we attach on our phones to make us look extra flattering in pictures and videos? The iNSPIC [S] comes with a built-in one!

The trip was magical – fulfilling as we left Lengkong Kulon village with a cleaner environment and the children with more awareness about the environment. I am glad that I got to have them all printed in cute little print-outs with the Canon iNSPIC [S].
