Sim Lim Square and Shopee Announce Strategic Partnership to Bring Online-To-Offline Retail Experience to Consumers

Shopee officially announces its partnership with Sim Lim Square, marking the latter’s first-ever collaboration with an e-commerce platform. As part of the shift towards an online-to-offline (O2O) commerce strategy, shoppers can now browse Sim Lim Square’s wide array of stores on Shopee and make purchases from the comfort of their homes. Shoppers can also choose to have their items delivered to their homes or any other preferred location or opt to pick up the goods from the offline retail store.

Based on a survey conducted by Shopee, more than 70% of consumers are comfortable with the idea of purchasing electronic products online today, as compared to only 36% five years ago. Mobile phones, earphones and laptops emerged as the most browsed electronics products. Online reviews proved to be a key factor in supporting this trend, with 75% of respondents indicating a reliance on online reviews in making their online tech purchases. According to a recent Statista e-commerce report, online spending revenue on electronics and media alone amounted to approximately US$1,022.5 million in 2018, a 11.35% increase from 2017.

To mark the launch of the partnership, Sim Lim Square and Shopee will be holding a 10-day launch campaign from 17 to 31 August, with special discounts, flash deals on best-selling items and exclusive giveaways from brand partners such as Acer, SonicGear, Avermedia, and Nvidia with their selected partners.
