Do you love writing notes or sketching on your tablet? If you’re a normal human being, you’ll discover that fingers aren’t the best way to accomplish such tasks. Thank goodness that someone has invented styluses, allowing us to write and draw with precision on our tablets. Enter the Bamboo Sketch, Wacom’s latest stylus designed for use on both phones and tablets.Unlike most styluses which are basically just plastic sticks, the Bamboo Sketch connects to your device via bluetooth. This ensures an enhanced tactile experience so you won’t be snapping your stylus out of frustration with the tip not doing anything on the screen’s surface. The grip is sturdy and comfortable, making for a natural and fluid writing experience. Personally, I found myself writing legibly for the first time on my iPad with the Bamboo Sketch. I’ve also tried drawing with it – I’m no artist, but at least now my drawings don’t look like a two year old picking up a marker for the first time.
Precision is no issue with the Bamboo Sketch. You’ll be able to get great strokes regardless of your writing habits. The stylus supports weighted lines as well, so pressing harder on your tablet gives you thicker lines and lighter strokes give thinner ones. It’s a great feature to simulate a real pen writing on paper. One minor annoyance I’ve encountered is that the stylus doesn’t have palm rejection, so you’ve got to be careful not to rest your palm on the tablet. It’s a small price to pay for compatibility across multiple platforms.
You’ll find a whole bunch of app support for the Bamboo Sketch that uses it to its full potential. Aside from the official Wacom ones, there are apps like Astropad, AutoDesk SketchBook, Notes Plus, Procreate, Zen Brush 2, Zoom Notes, and many more. You’ll definitely be able to download one that fits your needs.
The Bamboo Sketch comes in a sleek and compact case that protects the stylus and gives it a lot of portability. It keeps everything you need – stylus, extra nib, and charging attachment. Charging the Bamboo Sketch is done by connecting the pen to your computer, though I found myself wishing that I could charge through the casing instead as it’s kind of unwieldy to have to plug a pen on the side of your laptop.
Overall, the Bamboo Sketch is a great all-round stylus for use on any device. It’s comfortable, precise, and comes with a great carrying case. Give your poor fingers a morale boost by writing beautiful notes once again with this stylus.
