The 2018 Canon PhotoMarathon Malaysia was a huge success this past weekend as 1,600 photography enthusiasts took over Sunway Pyramid with their prized cameras in tow.
Age was no boundary this year – the 12th edition to take place in Malaysia – and this was greeted with a huge smile from Andrew Koh, CEO, Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.
“When we first started the Canon PhotoMarathon in Singapore more than 20 years ago, we didn’t imagine it would grow to such an extent. Now it’s across many countries including Malaysia – the numbers have grown quite a bit,” Andrew said.
“The participants’ demographics have also changed, as you can see today, we have a lot of younger people, and it’s good. The interest in photography is still there. Of course we try to update the programme within PhotoMarathon to attract the younger generation.”
The entire Blue Concourse of Sunway Pyramid was deck up with a huge stage, sponsors’ booths and a whole lot of games for participants and mall patrons.
Andrew added: “On the whole, the Canon PhotoMarathon has evolved. It’s a good sign that there are many first-time participants this year because we are trying to cultivate the photography culture in Malaysia, and bit by bit we are seeing positive results.”
“We’re in this for the long haul and we’re doing our part as a leading camera manufacturer.”
The 2018 Canon PhotoMarthon Malaysia also marked the endeavour of NXT’s launch across the Causeway. NXT crew and Angels were on the competition grounds to spread the word about the consumer gadget, gear and technology publication while getting new followers to hop on the nxtmag.tech/my bandwagon.
Lucky fans who won in NXT’s exclusive competition walked away with audio premiums like the Beyerdynamic Byron Wired earphones and the X-mini LIBERTY XOUNDPODS.
