LG Electronics recently announced an upcoming tech update to their LG 2017 OLED TV. They will be the first to implement Dolby Atmos sound, and provide viewers with full, uncompressed Dolby TrueHD audio. Now you can watch 4K UHD Blu-ray movies with in full cinematic quality, right in the comfort of your home.

Uncompressed and Uncompromised

The audio for LG’s current OLED TVs is slightly compressed when you watch content in 3D. The announced update will be rolled out sometime this month via an over-the-air firmware upgrade. With it, you now don’t have to compromise audio quality for 3D immersion.

All LG’s 2017 OLED TVs currently come with Dolby AC-4 decoding. This means that compatible LG TVs will be able to handle object-based next generation audio for immersive three-dimensional audio.

The latest update also includes Codec MAT (Metadata-enhanced Audio Transmission) support. This lets you enable Dolby TrueHD audio bit streaming on compatible 2017 OLED TVs when playing console games. Customers who desire the maximum benefits of Dolby TrueHD can stream the content through a compatible sound bar to the TV.
